East Providence Fire & Rescue is part of the City of East Providence’s Public Safety System. Comprised of 120 members under the direction of the Chief of Department, the department is responsible for all-hazard mitigation to protect life and property.
It is our responsibility to provide our citizens with the utmost professional fire suppression, emergency medical services and fire prevention and life safety services. We also take pride in providing state-of-the-art training to our firefighters, advanced emergency medical technicians and paramedics for their safety and yours. East Providence Fire & Rescue has been awarded an ISO Rating of two. This is a testament to the hard work and dedication we bestow and will continue to provide each and every day. Through a multitude of resources and support from the community, we will continue to provide the highest level of service to the citizens and visitors of East Providence.
Department Operations
The East Providence Fire Department is a full-time career Department that protects 47,800 residents in an area of 16.5 square miles. The main operating frequency for the Department is 470.7625 MHz, under the identification of KCB 723. All dispatching is done by a group of professional Dispatchers located at the City’s Central Communications Office within Fire Station 3. The Fire Department handles more than 13,500 calls for assistance each year and has a Class 2 ISO rating.
History
The Department was organized in 1875, with the first paid members starting in 1911. The Department never used horse-drawn equipment, making the transition directly from hand-pulled to motorized apparatus. MORE
